The Osaka Integrated Resort (IR) project, a major focus for the international casino industry, has gained momentum after finalizing its detailed design, including the casino facilities. The Osaka Prefectural and Municipal governments have received the final design proposal from the developer, Osaka IR Co., Ltd., and have initiated the approval process. The design includes a comprehensive resort layout featuring not only casino facilities but also international conference halls, hotels, and exhibition spaces.
Casino scale and operational plans
According to the released design, the proportion of the total resort area occupied by the casino is strictly limited to 3% or less, in accordance with relevant laws. The Osaka IR aims to be a complex entertainment venue that families and tourists can enjoy, rather than a simple gambling facility. The operator plans to dispel social concerns by implementing thorough access controls and anti-gambling addiction systems. In particular, strict Japanese regulations, such as facial recognition-based access control and limits on entry frequency, are being incorporated from the design stage.
