The Osaka Integrated Resort (IR) project, expected to reshape the landscape of the international casino industry, is proceeding without delay as of August 2026. Osaka City and its business partners, MGM Resorts International and the Orix consortium, announced that they completed large-scale soil stabilization work last month and have begun main construction for the primary facilities this month.
Infrastructure Development and Future Schedule
Located on the artificial island of Yumeshima in Osaka Bay, this project aims to create a complex cultural space that combines not only casino facilities but also international conference centers (MICE), hotels, and shopping malls. Currently, large cranes and foundational equipment are active on-site. Osaka City is maximizing construction efficiency by utilizing infrastructure established after the 2025 Osaka-Kansai Expo. The project team stated that they aim to complete facility construction and interior work by the end of 2029, targeting an official opening in the autumn of 2030.
