The development of the Osaka Yumeshima Integrated Resort (IR) in Japan, which is garnering attention as a new center for the international casino industry, is progressing smoothly as of September 2026. The Japanese government and Osaka Prefecture recently opened the infrastructure construction site to the public, confirming that construction is proceeding according to schedule. This project aims to create a large-scale integrated tourism complex that goes beyond mere casino facilities to include international conference centers, hotels, and exhibition facilities.
Consortium investment and business structure
The consortium led by Orix and MGM Resorts International plans to invest a total of 1.27 trillion yen to complete Japan's first casino integrated resort. The project is considered a core strategy for revitalizing Japan's tourism industry and attracting foreign tourists. Currently, ground reinforcement work at the site is nearing completion, and preparatory work for the construction of the upper structures is underway. The operators intend to increase cooperation with local Osaka businesses and actively engage in job creation to ensure mutual growth with the local economy.
